The Past History And Clinical Features Of Deep Vein Thrombosis
Dr. Hakan UNCUa
aGenel Cerrahi AD, Vasküler ve Endovasküler Cerrahi Birimi, Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, ANKARA Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is one of the most frequent vascular disease which occurs in the presence of one or more factors of Virchow’s triad as venous stasis, abnormality of vessel wall and hypercoagubility. The main symptoms of DVT are pain, swelling and tenderness. Since no symptom or clinical finding is specific for this disease, the differential diagnosis of DVT is not so easy. If accurate diagnosis can’t be done and correct treatment can’t be performed, DVT may cause mortality by occuring pulmonary embolism and may cause important morbidity by occuring post-thrombotic syndrome and venous ulcer. In this article, the past history of the patient and his family, risk factors and clinical findings should be evaluated to make the accurate diagnosis of DVT are presented. Keywords: Venous thrombosis, thromboembolism, pulmonary embolism, varicose ulcerTurkiye Klinikleri J Gen Surg-Special Topics 2008, 1(1):6-14
